Our History

After working for a data solutions company and a voice solutions company, and seeing customer service issue resolution falling short, I decided to start my own company to be able to take care of customers better than I was seeing other companies do that. So Genesis began in Dec. of 1983.

My dad, EHP, supported my efforts with advice and $50,000. In his career, after graduating from the University of Nebraska in Business he had risen through the ranks of International Harvester Company and when he retired he was Manager of National Accounts, Government Sales, Airline Sales, and the Construction Equipment Division. He had seen and handled many situations domestically and internationally via distributors and direct in those 30 years. He truly enjoyed being involved and helping in the planning and execution of this new business. And it has been such a pleasure to work with and learn from him along the way.

My brother, Brad, had graduated from Northern Illinois University in Finance and Business Management. He then went to California and worked for Dresser Industries. When he heard that dad and I were planning a new business, he came to Houston to visit me and that is when he told me that he had always wanted to be involved in a family business. After talking about this new business and reviewing my business plan and Brad's ideas for this business, we were both ready to move forward. So he loaded up his car and all of his belongings and drove to Houston to begin his dream.

As I was growing up I often listened to mom and dad talk about business- he talked about his work experiences and mom listened and asked questions. That was a great business beginning -basic and advanced-and those were the beginnings of my dream -to start and grow my own business. I had my degree from Ohio State University in Business Communications, passion about this business idea, lots of energy, and $25,000 to start.

The Beginnings of Genesis Telecom

The stage was set and we began about the same time that the oil recession hit. It was a very difficult business climate for about 3 years. The most important piece you learn in those challenging economic situations is this - Do you believe in yourself and your idea or not. We learned we did. We aligned with great manufacturers, employees/team members, and customers. We worked hard to ensure our customers knew who we were and what we believed in.

So we began our business with a passionate belief in service and our philosophy has not changed. We offer each of our customers a one hour emergency response time. This illustrates we are committed to responding to our customer's needs in a timely basis with great attitudes, experience, and talent.

Genesis Telecom Today

Now that I have been in this industry for almost 30 years and an owner of Genesis for 25 years, I am please to say in all the local, Texas and national contacts in our industry, we are the only company that I know of that offers a one hour emergency response time. In addition, it is a money backed offer. This is part of our culture and everyone at Genesis knows how to accomplish the one hour response time if needed.

Today we are dedicated more than ever before to our customers needs and we still sell, install and maintain business equipment solutions but now we offer hardware, software, and LAN/WAN data analysis along with VOIP phone systems. We show our customers what our solutions consist of in a live demo at our office or theirs. We are thrilled we started this business 25 years ago as it has allowed us to become involved in the community in multiple ways-board work for BBB, non profit efforts to raise money to cure mitochondrial disease, meeting and working with wonderful businesses, customers, employees, providers and the ability to be involved in an industry whose creativity and engineering continues to help so many organizations.
